Class Overview

Learn how to apply the theories of stage and photographic lighting design in the digital world with one of the Industry’s leading artists, Maria Yue. Maria has been lighting scenes for nearly 7 years and currently works as a Senior Lighting Artist at Splash Damage.

Maria will teach you the workflows for designing lighting specific to the demands of your scene or character.  You will learn all the steps in the pipeline and understand how to make effective and efficient design decisions.

This course on Lighting For Games will consist of six modules of pre-recorded lessons and live Q&A sessions. You’ll learn core lighting design skills and workflows and be part of a community of artists working to achieve next level quality in their work.

What You’ll Learn

The course will go through the full process of designing Lighting for 3D games. The emphasis will be on applying theoretical knowledge in practical and efficient ways for various settings, interior, exterior and natural lighting, lighting for characters, and lighting using Unity, CryEngine and Unreal. Maria will demonstrate her own lighting approach and the workflow she uses from concept to game-ready.

Students will learn how to make smart choices from the moment they collect references to create their moodboard to time they finish their project.
