If you are a game artist, or want to become one, you have probably wondered how many artists does it take to build an environment. This is the most natural question for our kind when playing the latest AAA title or checking out the cool gameplay walkthroughs on YouTube.

And that’s why this was one of the first questions I asked when I sat down to talk with John Griffiths

John is a Lead Environment Artist at Evidential. You have seen his gorgeous environment work in games like Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

So when I asked him how many people work on an environment, he had a surprising answer. 

From there, he went on to explain how the production teams work on environments, levels and the whole games in general.

I think it’s some invaluable information for anyone looking for a career in games.
